Manage assessments
Users with the relevant roles can mark learner assessment records in Ontrack Staff Hub.
Users can only mark assessments in Ontrack Staff Hub if:

- They are an Assessor of the owning organisation linked to the course
- They are a staff member of type Tutor linked to the UIO for the assessment
Users can only confirm assessments in Ontrack Staff Hub if:
- They have the user role of Confirm Assessments (found in the EBS Ontrack group of User Management)
- They are a staff member of type Lead Tutor linked to at least one UIO where the time span for the UIO spans the current Ontrack Staff Hub year
- They are a staff member of type Lead Tutor linked to the UIO of the assessment
Use the assessment functionality to:
Mark assessments

Click the My Assessments option in the Ontrack Staff Hub navigation pane.

Click the link in the Mark column for the assessment due to be marked on the Assessments page.
The list of learners with that assessment assigned to their enrolment is then displayed on the Record Assessment Results page.
You can filter the records in the grid by UIO group from the Group field drop-down list in the Module Details section.
The fields on the Record Assessment Results page are described in the following table.

| Result | The types of marks available dependant on the assessment and grading scheme types. Select from the drop-down list. |
| Adjusted Result | Record adjusted results where there is reason to adjust the actual result (for example: where a resit has taken place and the result is capped in line with institution regulations or there is a mark reduction policy in place for late submission of assessments). |
| Attempt | The attempt number for the learner on this assessment. |
| Resit |
Set the number of resit results up to the value of the number allowed for the assessment. When you click the Resit button, the Result and Amended Result fields are cleared, and the attempt number is increased by one. You can then enter new values in the Result and Amended Result fields and submit the results. The Resit button is also replaced by a Cancel button so you can cancel the resit if required. If you click the Cancel button, the Result and Amended Result fields are populated with the last archived result, and the attempt number is decreased by one. You can only cancel the last resit for a learner. |
| Revert | Reverses the exam result to the archived grade. This reduces the number of attempts recorded in the Attempt column by one. |
| Bulk Resit |
Allows you to resit the assessment by selecting the check box, and then clicking the Resit Selected button at the bottom of the screen. A result must be submitted before it is possible to select the Bulk Resit check box. |

Click the Grant Extension button to set an extension for the assessment

Click the Submit Results button to submit the assessment
- Click the Resit Selected button to set resits for the records with the Bulk Resit check box selected

The mitigating circumstances reasons that can be taken into consideration for a learner if an extension has been set for the assessment. HE Mitigating Circumstances records are set up in reference data. |
| Date Submitted | The due date of the assessment. Enter the required date, or click the Calendar button to display the calendar, where a different date can be selected. |
| Date Marked | The date the assessment is marked. Enter the required date, or click the Calendar button to display the calendar, where a different date can be selected. |
Confirm assessments

Select the My Unconfirmed Assessments option in the Ontrack Staff Hub navigation pane.

Click the link in the Confirm column for the required assessment on the Unconfirmed Assessments page.
The list of learners with a marked assessment assigned to their enrolment is then displayed on the Confirm Assessment Results page.

Select the required status of the assessment for the learner in the Status field.

Click the Confirm Results button to confirm the results of the assessment.
A confirmation message is displayed.

Click Close to close the message.
Manage assessments for a specific course
Users with the Full Curriculum Assessments role can add, edit or remove course assessments.
To manage assessments for a specific course:

Select the relevant course from the Staff Courses screen (accessed by selecting My Courses from the left-hand panel).

Select Assessments from the left-hand panel, under the Courses section.
The Manage Assessments screen is displayed.
- Add, edit or remove the assessments as required.
The fields on the Manage Assessments screen are described in the following table.

The grading scheme of this assessment. This must be an active grading scheme. Grading scheme records are set up in reference data. |
| Min Pass Mark |
The minimum pass mark is defaulted from the linked grading scheme. This will be mandatory for the Percentage, Marks Out Of and Grade type grading schemes. For a Percentage grading scheme, the possible values will be between 0 and 100. For a Marks Out Of grading scheme, the possible values will be between 0 and the Marks Out Of value for the assessment. For a Grade grading scheme, the possible values will be the set of grades for the linked grading scheme. This can be edited after the initial default from the grading scheme. If the grading scheme is changed after the minimum mark has been set for an assessment, the default from the new grading scheme will then be applied. |
| Marks Out Of |
Enter the number of marks this assessment is out of. This is only applicable where the grading scheme is a Marks Out Of type grading scheme. |
| Active | Whether this assessment is an active assessment. |
| Order | The order of the assessment in an assignment/group (that is: users can mark their assessments that are grouped into assignments/groups by the order specified in this field on the Record Assignment Results page in Ontrack Staff Hub). |
| Location | The study location for this assessment. Search for and select the relevant location. |
| Organisation | The owning organisation for this assessment. Search for and select the relevant organisation. |
| Mandatory | Whether this assessment is mandatory. |
| Grouped | Displays whether or not this assessment has been grouped under a Marking Scheme (read-only). |
| Allow Aegrotats | Whether to allow aegrotats for this assessment (that is: whether a learner can pass the assessment if they have missed it due to mitigating circumstances, such as illness). |
| Allow Extensions | Whether to allow extensions for this assessment. |
| Mandatory Enrol | Whether this assessment is mandatory at enrolment. |
| Must Pass | Whether learners must pass this assessment. |
| Resits Allowed | The number of resits allowed for this assessment. |
| Theory Hours | The number of theory hours for this assessment. |
| Practical Hours | The number of practical hours for this assessment. |
- Click Save.
UK Mark assessments for specific assignments/groups
To mark an assessment for a specific assignment/group:

Click the My Assignments/Groups option in the Ontrack Staff Hub navigation pane.
The EBS4Markbook licence must be held to display this option.

Click the link in the Mark column for the assignment/group due to be marked on the Assignments/Groups page.
This lists all assignments/groups where you are linked to the assessments against the UIO and one or more assessment has a grading scheme with a subtype of 'PASSORFAIL'.
The Record Assignment Results page is displayed.
You can filter the records in the grid by UIO group from the Group field drop-down list in the Module Details section.

Select a learner in the grid to expand and view their assessments, and then enter the required results.
You can mark your assessments that are grouped into assignments/groups by the order specified in the Order field on the UIO Assessments screen in Central.

When you have marked assessments for the required learners, click the Submit Results button to submit the assessments.
